Description
First in a series produced by Visions International in which looks at rail freight operators within the United Kingdom. This DVD is aimed looking at the operation of GBRF between 2001 and 2009. Starting with a brief overview of traction used prior to a feature on contractual work to Network Rail operating on their infrastructure trains and engineer’s trains as well as on de-icing trains. Next feature is the contracted intermodal workings between Hams Hall and Felixstowe, between Selby and Felixstowe plus between Doncaster and Felixstowe. Fourth feature is a look at GBRF depots, Peterborough, Tonbridge and also March depot. Then a return to the operations by looking at Gypsum contracts with traffic flows between West Burton, Southampton, Mountfield and Kirkby Thore. This is followed by feature of Petrochemical workings from North Walsham to Harwich and also between Harwich, Doncaster and Aberdeen. Next section are postal workings on behalf of Royal Mail which use modified class 325 Electric Multiple Units as well as class 86 electric locomotives between Willesden and Shieldmuir. Another major contract worked by GBRF was Metronet, a contract in connection with the upgrade and renewal works on London Underground. Contract saw five new class 66 locomotives being delivered with a naming ceremony featured. Also featured is the working of Whitemoor Yard which has seen various changes over the years. Further GBRF featured contracts are coal working between Immingham, Drax, Redcar and Tyne Dock. Final section is of stock moves and passenger working
