The second in a series by Visions International looking at individual freight operating companies in United Kingdom. This DVD looks at the operations of Direct Rail
Services or DRS for short up till 2009. To start of with is a survey of traction in which is used by the company then a look at the main traffic that was the reason being the formation of DRS being set up, Nuclear Flask operations, all centred with routes to and from Sellafield. First route focussed is flow to and from Seaton On Tees, then on to the Hunterston flow, Bridgewater flow, Valley flow, Sizewell flow and Dungeness flow. Third section looks at flow of Nitric Acid between Sellafield and Carlisle. Next section looks at several intermodal workings starting with initial flow that started in 2002 between Grangemouth and Daventry and has since been widely expanded. Following feature looks at Direct Rail Service depots of Carlisle Kingmoor, Crewe Gresty Bridge and sidings at Stowmarket Marsh Lane. This is followed on by a look at operation on behalf of Network Rail including SERCO test trains and route learning operations. Also shown are passenger serviced worked boy DRS from time to time with a final section focussing on working of Rail Heat Treatment Trains. Throughout the DVD which can be played either with or without commentary, a variety of locations are shown at various locations.
