An Online Video production looking back at the tramway systems that once operated through Java both under steam and electric power. Starting in western part of Java in Batavia with footage dating from mid 1930’s with original 1899 Belgian built trams working alongside German built fireless steam trams. See how steam tram operation was being converted over to electric operation and construction of new tramway routes. Next are 1969 scenes of steam operated Wadas Tramway running through rural rice fields. See steam working alongside diesel hydraulic trams working between Solo and Baturetno. English built Beyer Peacock steam trams are shown working through narrow and winding streets of Surabayo plus operation on Madura Island. Further steam tram operation is shown between Kadiri and Paree as well as many other tramway operations shown.
