The Gwili At 40

The first in a series of books on GWR Branch Lines. This book was written by author Ian McCall and published in 2018 by Mainline and Maritime is an 82-page softback book titled The Gwili At 40. The book celebrates the 40 years of preservation for Gwili Railway with a vast range of photographs. The book starts by looking at the early years of the railway when the society was first formed followed by a photographic portrayal of a journey along the line. Many societies are part of the railway and these are also featured including Gwili Railway Preservation Society, Gwili Vintage Carriage Trust, Railway Club Of Wales, Caerphilly Railway Society plus Swansea Vale Railway Society. Photographs show the role and importance of these societies for Gwili Railway. Photographs also show the steam locomotives based at the railway along with diesel locomotives, carriages, and other rolling stock. A chapter is dedicated to the railway's own miniature railway as well as each of the stations on the line. The author has also managed to incorporate photographs of some locomotives which have visited the railway in the 40 years of preservation. Further photographic features are of the railways' special events and a glimpse at some of the future projects ahead.
