Narrow Gauge In The Former Yugoslavia

128-page hardback publication as part of the Narrow Gauge Album series by Mainline and Maritime in 2020. This book which was written by photographer and author James Waite looks at narrow gauge steam locomotive operations of the former Yugoslavia (Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia-Hercegovina, Serbia, Kosovo, Montenegro, and North Macedonia). Scenes that have been photographed between 2005 and 2012 show a number of different locomotives working in industrial use and also in preservation. The many steam locomotives contained in the book are of a variety of types and designs. The only common factor of all the locomotives is that they are narrow gauge locomotives. Systems in which they can be seen to work vary including the coal mining railway system of Bosnia (760mm gauge Banovici Coal Railway), a forestry line (760mm Gauge Steinbeisbahn in Bosnia), Karanovac to Gacania line in Bosnia plus preserved examples at Ljubljana Museum in Slovenia or Zagreb Technical Museum in Croatia among many other industrial and preservation locations. For any enthusiast or historian of narrow gauge systems this book is certainly a great addition.
