Description
An Online Video production looking at four lines running in the city of London. Starting off with the former Great Eastern Railway North Woolwich Branch from Stratford. Scenes from steam days show London North Eastern Railway N7 class steam locomotives being used on services. A jump to 1978 with the branch being now used by diesel multiple units. Next are views filmed during 1984 with Great Eastern Railway Museum at North Woolwich plus a royal visit hauled by preserved London North Eastern Railway A3 4472 “Flying Scotsman”. Final scenes of the branch were taken during a visit in 2006 with the last days of the branch operating on 10th December 2006. Next line featured is the North London Line between Broad Street and Camden Road. Scenes of the line dating from 1984 include a cab ride on board class 501 electric multiple unit from Broad Street to Camden Road and back. Jumping forward to scenes from 2008 showing a much changed station at Broad Street as well as Camden Road and Stratford. Third line featured Widened lines between King Street and Moorgate. Scenes of the line from 1952 show services worked by London North Eastern Railway N2 class steam locomotives. Next are scenes from 1976 with a special tour operating just prior to the line closure? We then see the line reopened during the 1980s as part of the Thameslink and final scenes from the branch were recorded in 2007 with a crowded new Kings Cross Thameslink station. Final line to be featured is East Line London both prior and during the refurbishment works that were taking place in 2008.
