Look back at the history of the Central line from the opening in 1900 from Shepherds Bush to Bank and the extensions such as from Shepherds Bush to Wood Lane in 1908 followed in 1912 from Bank to London Liverpool Street then in 1920 from Wood Lane to Ealing Broadway. See how the Central Line was of a great service and support during the Second World War. DVD then features post war extensions of 1946 to West Ruislip an also into Ongar plus the extensions from London Liverpool Street to Stratford which in 1947 is then extended to Leytonstone, Newbury and Woodford as well as from North Acton to Greenford. Watch the unfolding of 1948 extensions from Newbury Park and Woodford to Hainault to create Fairlop Loop and extension from Greenford to West Ruislip. Follow the 1949 extension from Loughton to Epping and then the takeover in 1957 of 1860’s Great Eastern Railway built line from Epping to Ongar. DVD also follows the system including the changes that took place in 1960’s, 1970’s and 1980’s followed by 1990 Ruislip Depot open day and new 1992 stock being built by BRER at Derby then being delivered at Ruislip and entering service. Look at present day system in detail with the first part starting at Bank then going to London Liverpool Street, Bethnal Green, Mile End, Stratford, Leyton and then Leytonstone before looking along the Epping Branch via Woodford, Buckhurst Hill and Loughton before arriving at Epping. Next feature is of present day scenes looking in detail of Hainault loop starting at Wanstead then going onto Redbridge, Gants Hill. Newbury Park, Barkingside, Hainault, Grange Hill, Chigwell and then Woodford. DVD returns to Central London starting at ST Paul’s going via Chancery Lane, Holborn, Tottenham Court Road, Oxford Circus, Marble Arch, Lancaster Gate, Queensway, Notting Hill getting to White City and onwards to East Acton and North Acton. After North Acton then loos at West Ruislip branch starting with Hangar Lane, Perivale, Greenford, Northolt, South Ruislip, Ruislip Gardens and West Ruislip then going back to North Acton onto Ealing Broadway Branch. The next feature is looking at items that have been preserved at London Transport Museum in Convent Gardens before concluding with a brief glimpse into the future.
