Description
Produced by Train Crazy in co-operation with Videoscene and in conjunction with Freightmaster, Number 24 in the Big Freight series takes the viewer on a countrywide tour, looking at the best of the freight action in the UK in 2020 and 2021, with new flows, diversions, freight-only lines and just about every class of loco currently in operation. Features include footage from the snow in February 2021 with Class 37s plowing their way through huge drifts and a short cab ride on a snow plow on the Highland Mainline. The action of freight flows around Derby are with four freight-only lines, Sinfin, Stenson, Coalville, and Lichfield - all within 20 miles south of Derby shown in addition to Derby itself with a variety of different freight flows and being used as a stabling location for many locomotives. The Stenson to Sheet Stores branch with footage from a number of visits in spring 2021 includes pretty much everything: 20s, 37s, 56s, 60s, 67s, 70s, and 73s. A feature is included on the Rail Head Treatment Trains of 2020 leaf fall season with some of the more exotic trains including 37s, 57s, and 66s in Anglia, 56s and 97s working off Shrewsbury, 66s, 67s, 68s, and 88s in Scotland and Class 20s from York. Also a look at the Biomass trains that run between Liverpool Docks and Drax Power Station, featuring the freight-only section from the docks to Tuebrook. 56 hauled operation gets a feature with two Colas Class 56 hauled trains, with the short flow from Immingham Docks to Scunthorpe and a rare occasion when the Calcium Carbonate tanks to Workington were routed up the Cumbrian coast from Preston. Plus freight action on the Chiltern main line and a typical day on the WCML with 86s still running at Rugeley Trent Valley plus a look at the Class 70 hauled flows in Scotland on the Highland Main Line and diversions.
