Description

Number 14 in the highly-acclaimed and best-selling Big Freight series, produced by Train Crazy in co-operation with Videoscene and in conjunction with Freightmaster with a superb feast of nearly 3 hours of freight trains filmed around the UK during 2014 and 2015. The DVD features a visit to the Freightmaster hotspot location of Barnetby. With major resignalling planned for Lincolnshire, this was the last opportunity to see freight trains and large-scale traditional semaphore signaling side-by-side. In an extended feature, footage from summer and autumn looks at the coal, steel, iron ore, stone, and oil trains hauled by various DBS, Freightliner, Colas, and GBRf using Class 60 and Class 66 diesel locomotives plus a Colas Class 70 locomotive. A detailed look at the freight-only Coalville branch which links Knighton Jct near Leicester and Birmingham Curve Jct near Burton. This once-busy branch is essentially split into two, with regular stone trains running between Leicester, Cliffe Hall Quarry, and Bardon Hill. Numerous GBRf Class 66 hauled stone trains are featured. A look at the freight scene in Scotland from 2015 with Class 68 locomotives and pairs of Class 90 locomotives hauling Intermodals, and coal trains to the now-closed Greenburn and Killoch mines. GBRf Class 66 locomotives on Borders-railway track trains and various engineers trains hauled by pairs of DRS 37 locomotives and Colas Class 56 locomotives. Scenes from the Peak Forrest area feature various DBS, GBRf, and Freightliner locos in further scenic semaphore signal hotspots. An extended feature is included on the Rail Head Treatment Trains for 2015 including DRS Class 20s, Network Rail Class 37s (97s), Colas Class 47s, and also GBRf Class 73s. All this plus class 60 60087 and class 70 70805 on the log trains working between Carlisle and Chirk. Class 70 working tank trains between Preston and Lindsey Docks. Also Northern Belle liveried class 57s 57305 and 57312 on the Valley flasks.
