A Classic London Bus - Story Of The RT Family

A 2004 Online Video production looking at the RT family of buses and their operation that spanned 40 years from being first introduced in 1939 to final withdrawal in 1979. Starting off by looking at the RT type in its most basic form and following the progress to provide variant variations and later modifications which were to provide a family tree style with RTLs (RTs with Leyland Chassis) and RTW (RTs with wider Leyland Body and Chassis). The DVD sees them working on many routes in and around a vast array of locations in the London area in addition to other locations in the United Kingdom and countries abroad. Another of the features includes a final parade which was organized in April 1979 running out of Barking Depot plus scenes of these double-decker buses in the yards of scrap merchants. A further feature on the DVD is following the immediate post-withdrawal with lucky survivors that have been lucky to be preserved and not scrapped. DVD is certainly one which gives a great historical overview of these famous former London double-decker buses.
