Starting in South Wales during 1970’s taking a cab ride from Swansea to Camarthen on board a class 108 diesel mechanical multiple unit. At Camarthen a variety of class 37 and class 47 hauled trains are shown plus various DMU Workings. Similar scenes are shown at Abergaveny. Next are scenes from Bristol in 1986. These scenes include HST workings plus DMU services. Loco hauled passenger trains are shown being worked by class 33 Cromptons, class 45 Peaks as well as class 47’s. Further scenes from 1986 are shown at Newport with class 33 Cromptons and class 45 Peaks are hauling passenger trains as well as DMU local services. Also shown at the head of parcels trains while class 47’s work infrastructure trains and class 56’s work Iron Ore Trains. Action from Cardiff also in 1986 provides further shots of HST workings plus class 37’s on coal and departmental trains. In addition we go on a cab ride in a DMU from Cardiff Central to Pontypridd. Back at Bristol this time in 1989 with many of passenger trains are now HST services or class 155 DMU workings. Views of Bristol Bath Road Motive Power Depot are also shown. A leap forward to 1996 at Newport and among the scenes of HST workings are diesel multiple unit workings with a mix of class 142’s, class 150’s and class 158’s. Also included is light engine movements with class 37’s and class 47’s. Class 47’s are also shown working postal trains plus class 56’s working coal trains, class 60’s working steel trains as well as class 08’s on trip workings. Scenes from Cardiff in 1996 show many MST workings with other passenger trains in the hands of class 142 diesel multiple units. Class 60 diesel locomotives are seen on majority of freight traffic including coal, iron ore and steel. A trip is also taken on class 150 diesel multiple unit from Cardiff to Barry Island.
