Riding The DCR Route Learner 1 - Bo'ness To Aberdeen

A Train Crazy Production in co-operation with Videoscene and with the full assistance of Devon and Cornwall Railways takes us on a cab ride on board class 31 diesel locomotive 31601 as it embarks on a route learning trip from Bo’ness to Carlisle via Aberdeen, Inverness and Perth. This DVD features 129 mile route filmed on 28th December 2014 from Bo’ness to Aberdeen via Forth Bridge, Tay Bridge and Dundee. Starting with departure at 08:23 we leave Bo’ness Exchange Sidings and crossing over Bo’ness Junction and taking the up Edinburgh and Glasgow Line to Winchburgh Junction. From Winchburgh Junction, down Winchburgh line is taken and then the down Fife line from Dalmeny Junction followed with the crossing of the 1.6 mile long and impressive Forth Bridge. After Forth Bridge the locomotive passes through North Queensferry, Inverkeithing and Burntisland towards Kirkcaldy followed by passing through Markinch, Ladybank and Cupar heading to Leuchars for St Andrews. Locomotive then crosses over the 1887 built 2 ¾ mile long Tay Bridge before taking Dundee Central Junction and passing Dundee along the through road. Upon leaving Dundee the journey follows the down main going through the 627 yard long Dock Street Tunnel and onwards to pass Carnoustie, Arbroath, Montrose and Stonehaven before reaching Aberdeen and entering platform 7 where the DVD concludes.
