Marsden Rail Volume 6 - Carnforth

Look back at the action of passenger and freight trains handled by both steam and diesel locomotives between 1961 and 1965 on the West Coast main line at Carnforth. Main motive power around the area were black 5’s and other than the 36 featured were class 4’s 42471, 43003, 42312, 43043 and 43006. Also Jubilee class 45562 ‘Alberta’ and 45698 ‘Mars’. Royal Scot 46156 ‘The South Wales Borderer’ and 46162 ‘Queens Westminster Rifleman’. Ivatt 2MT 46426 as well as 8F’s 48206 and 48622. British Railway Britannia class 70005 ‘John Milton’, 70013 ‘Oliver Cromwell’, 70021 ‘Morning Star’, 70025 ‘Western Star’ and 70029 ‘Shooting Star’. Standard class 5 73138 along with standard class 4’s 75015, 75021 and 75058. Additionally 9F’s 92021, 92078, 92118, 92137 and 92208. Among diesel locomotives were class 08 shunter D4140 and D4141.
