Marsden Rail Volume 37 - Somerset and Dorset Revisited

A Marsden Rail production starting at Bath Green Park with a wide variety of steam locomotives shown at work before we head south to Bath Junction, Midford and Wellow also including several notable engineering features such as Devonshire Tunnel and Midford Tunnel. Then it is on to Templecombe and Templecombe Motive Power Depot as well as movements between upper and lower station are shown. Next location featured is Bournemouth then further west along the coast to Wareham and the 10 mile Swanage branch. Continuing further west to Weymouth and also Weymouth Harbour branch. After Weymouth action heads north to Bristol and Cheltenham. Footage from 1962 shows cross country service operated from Cheltenham St James through Andoversford, Stow On The Wold and Kingham to Chipping Norton complimented by scenes from the last day of service along this stretch of line with final scenes on the DVD being of several rail tours in and out of Cheltenham.
