Marsden Rail Volume 35 - On Yorkshire Lines

This DVD features footage of the 1950’s and 1960’s. Starting on the East Coast Main Line at York and a mass frenzy of activity involving various types of both steam and diesel locomotives. Then moving to Church Fenton and a visit to North signal box. Frenzy of activity continues with scenes at Leeds City Station. A brief visit is also made to Famley Junction Motive Power Depot en route to Leeds Central Station where variety of workings are shown in the hands of LNER B1’s and BR class 55 Deltic’s. More passenger movements are shown at Beeston whilst both passenger and freight services are featured at Hunslett. Middleton Railway early days of preservation along with scenes at Hunslett Engine Works and the narrow gauge system of Knostrop Sewage Works are shown by J6 locomotives 64222 and 64268 at Rothwell. A second visit is made to Leeds Central and the variety of passenger trains then boarding a train bound for Bradford. After leaving Bradford we follow a LNER B1 hauled freight from Quarry Gap Yard to Staningley Goods Yard. Scenes at Huddersfield SHITOS passenger service using diesel multiple units and LMS 4F’s working the freight. EM1 and EM2 electric locomotives are featured on the electrified Woodhead route at Penistone. Barnsley Exchange shows majority of diesel workings then followed by joining a rail tour out of Sheffield hauled by Southern steam locomotive 30925 Cheltenham. Brief visit to Waterhay colliery is made prior to joining an LMS Jubilee hauled train from Knightley to Skipton. Variety of scenes of the Skipton area including Grassington branch are shown with dvd concluding at Layerthorpe and early days of Derwent Valley Light Railway.
