Marsden Rail Volume 23 - Gloucester

Marsden Rail production focussing with action on the railway in and around Gloucester as part of the former Great Western Railway using footage originally recorded between 1960 and 1966. Starting at Gloucester Central a mix of light engine movements, empty coach stock workings, passenger trains and freight trains are shown worked by various Great Western Railway locomotives. In addition, we gain a look around Gloucester Horton Road Motive Power Depot with many locomotives stabled awaiting their next duty. Next a journey on a DMU from Gloucester Central for further Great Western Railway action at Severn Tunnel Junction. A visit to Severn Tunnel Junction Motive Power Depot gives a glace of former Southern Railway locomotives amongst other awaiting transportation for scrap at Barry Scrap Yard. A return journey made to Gloucester Central before going along the Cheltenham line where the action divided between Great Western Railway and London Midland and Scottish Railway locomotives. Next scenes take us on a trip along the Golden Valley route from Gloucester Central via Stroud to Chalford then along Kemble and Tetbury branch. A railcar journey taken along the Cirencester line. Near Haresfield on the Bristol line, diesel locomotive usage in mix of steam locomotives are clearly evident with class 45 Peaks and class 52 Westerns. DVD finishes with final scenes at Bristol Temple Meads.
