Marsden Rail Volume 16 - Market Weighton

A Marsden Rail production utilising footage recorded between 1960 and 1968 of action in and around small East Yorkshire town of Market Weighton which in its heyday was a junction for trains to and from Selby, Driffield, York and Beverley. The DVD starts at Market Weighton with scenes of DMU services alongside class 40 diesel locomotive hauled services whilst LMS Ivatt 4F’s are handling freight trains. Next we go along to along the Beverley line pausing en route at Kiplingcotes and Cherry Burton. Reaching Beverley with connecting trains to and from Hull plus Scarborough we look at further DMU services working alongside variety of steam hauled passenger and freight movements with classes such as BR WD’s, LMS Black 5’s, LNER B1’s and B16’s. A journey behind a LNER B1 takes us back from Beverley to Market Weighton followed by a DMU journey onwards to York and back. Upon returning to Market Weighton the journey on the DMU continues to Driffield with further visit made to Beverley. Action moves on board yet another DMU journey this time from Cottingham pausing at Hatton Cranswick to Bridlington. From Bridlington we then get scenes with visits to Nafferton, Lowthorpe and Burton Agnes plus an in depth look at the stations served between Market Weighton and York. BR WD’s are seen working track lifting trains at Beverley North Junction bringing the DVD to a close with post closure scenes and demolition at Market Weighton.
