Description
An A and J Video production in co-operation with Online Video looking at new tramway and light rail systems operating in Britain as of 2005. After a brief of history and a look at the only 1st generation tramway still running in Blackpool, we start with the Manchester Metro link which started in stages between April 1992 and July 1992 with operations running between Bury and Altrincham into Manchester City Centre with an extension opening in 2000 to Eccles. Then we look at South Yorkshire Supertram in Sheffield that opened up in stages between March 1994 and October 1995. This is followed by Midland Metro that runs from Birmingham to Wolverhampton opening throughout in May 1999 plus a look at Nottingham Express Transit first opening between Nottingham Station, Hucknall and Phoenix Park in March 2004. Onto London firstly Docklands Light Railway that first operated between Tower Gateway to Stratford and Island Gardens in August 1987 and since has been largely extended and the final feature is Croydon Tram link that opened in May 2000.
