Description
Look back into the history of the Piccadilly line from the first opening of 1906 from Hammersmith to Finsbury Park and then through the extensions that then took place. See the changes to the system through the 1930’s including prototype streamlined trains that were being tested also rebuilding of Piccadilly Circus Station. Watch and discover use and operation of standard 1938 tube stock as well as 1956 prototype stock and also onto 1959 stock which one in traffic 1938 stock was withdrawn with some of the units finding new lease of life in Isle of Wight. 1970’s are featured with extensions into Heathrow with operations being done by newly built 1973 stock. Going into 1980’s and see challenges faced by heavy snowfall of 1982 plus station refurbishments of Finsbury Park, Leicester Square and Green Park as well as preserved 1938 stock on Starlight Express tour to Heathrow. See late 1980’s refurbishment of Piccadilly Circus station, Kings Cross station and also Gloucester Road Station. Look at the changes and improvements to the system including the rebuilding of Hillingdon station as well as a feature on the last day of operation on the Aldwych Branch. Get behind the scenes with refurbishment of 1973 stock being done by Bombardier then being delivered back to London Underground and re-entering into service. See the system in present day form starting out as Piccadilly then heading onto Green Park, South Kensington, Earls Court, Barons Court, Hammersmith and then Acton Town. Watch and discover the present day scenes from Acton Town on the Uxbridge Branch going to Ealing Common, Park Royal, Rayners Lane, Eastcote, Ruislip, Ickenham, Hillingdon and Uxbridge. Next feature of present day scenes start out at Leicester Square and head to Convent Gardens, Holborn, Russell Square, Kings Cross St Pancras, Holloway Road, Arsenal, Finsbury Park, Wood Green, Bounds Green, Arnos Grave, Southgate, Oakwood and Cockfosters. Last look of present day scenes is on the Heathrow Branch from Acton Town going via South Ealing, Northfields, Boston Manor, Osterley, Hounslow East, Hounslow Central, Hounslow West and Halton Cross before getting to Heathrow.
