Marsden Rail Volume 30 - Sheffield and North Derbyshire

Marsden Rail production starting with views ranging between 1932 and 1979 at the former Sheffield Victoria station with a wide variety of steam traction. Unique Woodhead route that linked Sheffield and Manchester is also featured. We then take a journey tracing 25 mile route from Sheffield Midland station to Chinley located in the heart of Derbyshire Peak District. Further action in the Peak District includes Cromford and High Peak Railway plus the line from Parsley Hay to Ashbourne. Following on are scenes within the industrial town of Chesterfield with a stud of Midland Railway built tank locomotives in active use during the 1960’s. Further 1960’s views are of passenger and freight activity in the Nottinghamshire town of Worksop. Final feature is of a film made in 1961 by British Transport Commission showing Sheffield and the outdated rail system with outlines of an ambitious plan for modernisation of the area.
