Description
We wee the Highgate High level station built just before the Second World War, to see trains from Moorgate to Alexandra Palace, station buildings and platforms are there yet it has never seen a tube train. A steam train from Alexandra Palace stopped in 1954. Trains were meant to go to Bushey but war started and so only tunnels were erected and a platform at Edgware prepared work stopped and never completed, cables, line taken back up. Walk the Highgate High Level if you’re lucky it can still be seen. Platforms burnt, signal boxes and huts on the palace line, a car auction in what was the coal yard. Trains on the underground from Moorgate to Finsbury Park then onto the palace never occurred. Car sheds at Aldenham used for war work followed by an overhaul works before being demolished. Tube trains to Alexandra Palace just never came about.
